SHORT STORY
Prologue

This is a story about Awire, a town crier in a kingdom in the Yorubaland of Nigeria.

Awire does his work of informing the inhabitants of the kingdom well but his son, Irawe, hates the two princes because of their pride.

When Awire falls ill, his son has to do the town crying job for him and Irawe sees it as a way of repaying the proud princes.

Irawe twists the words of the gods and calamity is to befall the royal family but Awire has to do something to avert the calamity, even if this could cost him his life.
