Confessions of the Taximen is a free short story by Wayne Barrow
The Road March song was being played at several decibels above the norm. It was Mashramani, Guyana’s national, cultural festival. It was the day of the annual celebration of work well done. It was a day of revelry where the masqueraders were adorned in the skimpiest of outfits. Shiny fabric-covered small patches of glittering skin and colorful feathers were attached either on bands around the head or parts of the costumes worn and with much pride.
The taxi drivers from Khan Singh Taxi Service assembled under the large, evergreen guinep tree, the branches of which were wide.
