PROLOGUE
Will Dekker awoke from a night of deep, restful sleep. His face burning, he raised a hand to shade his eyes from the sunlight blazing through the window and washing over him like a golden wave. Blinking his eyes into focus, he looked around his bedroom for a clock to check the time.
But he wasn’t in his bedroom.
The furnishings, the fixtures, the pictures on the wall; all were alien to him. Sitting on the nightstand next to his bed was a ratty-looking, leather-bound tome. Perched on top was a folded-paper sign: “Read Page 74.”
This story is free to read. It is an entry into the “Tomorrow” short story contest.
