PROLOGUE

The year was 1957. The Metal Wars were long over, and Earth was still recovering from their aftermath. Casualties were enormous, and much of the planet was now a junkyard of twisted metal and burnt-out ruins. But, as it must, life endured. For the residents of the Green Meadows orphanage, existence is routine and more routine. One day, however, three orphans venture out where they shouldn’t and make an unimaginable friend.
