“C-Cr-Crystal Pa-Palace,” Angie can’t believe her eyes. “John… J-John, ahh… How, When?”
“You like it?”
“Of… Of course, I love it but… “
“Don’t worry about the money,” John smiles as he motions for her to grab his hand. “I told you. This would be unforgettable.”
Seated on the upper deck they gaze out at the ocean as it comes a light by the beautiful firework show. As they enjoy the festivities Angie stares at John and think back to when they first met to where they are now.
“Is something on my face?” nervously John asked.
“No, silly,” she laughs.
“… ok, I guess. So did you like it?”
Shaking her head, “John, how could I not?”
Rrrrrring! Bbbrrrring! John pulls out his phone as Angie looks on annoyed.
“Hello, yes, yes, I understand I’ll be there right away,” John reassures. “Angie, I know I promised but it’s urgent I have to go… okay.”
“Whatever…”
“Come on, no need to get like that,” John signals for the waiter to bring the check. “I’ll make it up to you alright?”
“Fine…”
Pulling out his wallet John realizes he left his cards at home. “Babe… could you pay for the bill…”
The life drains out of Angie’s face as the waiter realizing the situation might get heated prepares to step away. “… I-I-I should have listened to my mother... Don’t tell me anything. Just don’t.”
As they exit John hurriedly jumps in the car and leaves with Angie standing there mesmerized. Turning to the valet. “Did-did that just…”
“Yes, ma’am… it did… sorry.”
“This night just keeps getting better and better.”
Tired and frustrated Angie arrives home and can’t wait to get some sleep. As she opens the door, bang bang! Surprised those inside rush to see what happened.
